Greenheck is known worldwide as the leading manufacturer of air-movement and control equipment. Its flagship ventilation products are typically found behind walls, in ductwork or on the roofs of hospitals, office buildings, hotels, shopping malls, restaurants, schools, industrial plants and other commercial buildings. Their function, basically, is to move air in, out and around a building — making life inside a lot more pleasant.

Greenheck is also a major, multi-brand corporation, representing a number of other affiliated entities (Accurex, Airolite, Innovent, Precision Coils, and Valent) offering architectural louvers and sunshades, specialized air-handling systems, heating and cooling coils and many related accessories and services.

Greenheck Version 4.5 of its Computer Aided Product Selection Program (CAPS) will be available for download on Monday, January 17, 2011. This release of the AMCA certified CAPS program offers users the ability to download Revit® drawing files for many of the products in CAPS. These files include specific performance based information for the respective product.

CAPS 4.5 also includes new products such as digital scroll compressors on energy recovery models ERCH and VER, ceiling radiation damper model CRD-1WT, FEMA grille model FSH 801and a horizontal wall screen model EES-401. In addition, to comply with the new EISA regulations, new motor efficiencies are in place. Many product enhancements and improvements have also been included.

If you are currently using CAPS 4.4, when the CAPS program starts you will either be prompted to download the update or the update will begin automatically. If prompted, click yes to update your program.

If you are using an earlier version, you will need to register and download the complete CAPS 4.5 Engineering release.

When a project calls for seismically rated equipment, there are a number of requirements that need to be considered. This article outlines the methodology of the seismic certification process and considerations involved to properly determine the need for a seismically certified fan. Click here to read more.

Greenheck has introduced digital scroll compressors in its Model ERCH and Model VER energy recovery ventilators to improve temperature and humidity control and save energy. Featuring an integral controller with a time-averaging sequence, the rate at which the scrolls are engaged and disengaged varies in order to match the required cooling capacity.

Using digital scrolls for capacity control provides leaving air temperatures as precise as 1 degree F. In addition to precise temperature control, digital scrolls offer cooling capacity turndown from 10 to 100%. The compressor turndown results in longer cycle times that improve humidity control, reduce compressor wear, and eliminate the need for hot gas bypass to improve the overall efficiency of the system.
