Continued growth in high rise construction, coupled with a spate of recent disastrous building fires in and around Sharjah and Dubai, has put fire safety firmly on the agenda for building designers and clients.
Our new Dubai Civil Defence ‘Product Approval’ underlines the contribution that Gyproc partitions can make to improving fire safety in all types of building.
Gyproc gets DCD approval
Gyproc’s GypWall CLASSIC and twin frame partition systems now have Dubai Civil Defence approval, meaning they can now be used for fire-rated applications throughout Dubai.
The new certification covers a full range of single, two and three layer constructions, designed to provide up to 180 minutes fire performance in single and twin frame configurations.
What DCD approval means to you
Now architects and contractors can use any GypWall CLASSIC or twin frame partition knowing it is approved for use by DCD to achieve the level of fire performance detailed in our literature.
Working with leading fire test laboratory, Exova WarringtonFire, DCD has tested our partition system range to different internationally recognised standards, including BS EN 1364-1, BS 466: Part 22, ASTM E119-10b and NFPA 252 – and have certified them as achieving fire performance of 30, 60, 90, 120 or 180 minutes, depending on the thickness and type of Gyproc plasterboard lining used.
DCD’s pioneering ‘Product Approval’ scheme for fire-rated products thus effectively underwrites the fire performance of our systems.
