Delivering high performance partitions and lining systems quickly to meet a tight build program, and supporting this with regular on-site visits with both the main contractor and dry lining sub-contractor to answer any installation or detailing issues that may arise, has enabled Gyproc to help keep Al Ain’s new Aloft hotel on schedule for completion later this year.

The new flagship of the Starwood Hotels Aloft brand, the Al Ain hotel is being constructed in the shadow of the city’s famous Hazza Bin Zayed football stadium, and will form part of a planned 500,000 square metre mixed use development centred around the arena – considered the most advanced of its type in the Middle East.

Offering the mix of stylish, affordable accommodation and outstanding hospitality, the new hotel will be aimed primarily at sporting enthusiasts, and will offer 172 rooms and two presidential suites over 5 storeys. It will feature high ceilings, oversize windows and ultra-comfortable beds – as well as a signature lounge, fitness centre and choice of restaurants all designed to create a unique guest experience.

Gyproc’s lightweight partition, lining and ceiling systems were specified for the project in preference to more traditional heavy masonry as they would provide guaranteed performance to meet the clients demanding acoustic and fire resistance requirements; offer fast and efficient installation to support the tight build schedule, and help to cut project costs.

The most challenging performance requirements, between guest bedrooms and in corridors, has been achieved using GypWall QUIET, a high performance twin frame separating wall that easily matched the clients 60db sound insulation and 120 minutes fire resistance specifications.

Elsewhere, drywall sub-contractors Asgar Fateh Technical Services, utilised GypWall CLASSIC partitions and GypLyner IWL independent linings to achieve the required 50dB and 60 minutes fire ratings for internal walls and linings, and the company’s market leading ShaftWall system, a unique system that allows shaft walls to be built from one side only, to simplify and save time in the construction of lift and service shafts.

Gyproc’s lightweight systems, coupled with their logistical expertise and support throughout the installation phase, have helped Main Contractor, BAM, to deliver this complex project ahead of expectations, and have so impressed the company that they have already teamed up with Gyproc for another project within same Al Ain development.
