The HIMOINSA HRTW 1300 dual frequency generator set is built into a 20 ft container, with 1039kw capacity and dual 50Hz and 60Hz frequency. Targeting mainly rental, mining, construction and oil and gas, this container offers competitive advantages over other products operating in the same sectors.

HIMOINSA’s engineering department was given the brief to design a machine that would give superior performance operate under the most adverse working conditions. To meet this challenge, Himoinsa has made a heavy duty machine to guarantee a long useful life. One of the main challenges was to build a generator set that could withstand extreme temperatures without comprising performance or fuel consumption. Therefore, a variable speed fan was designed to adapt to conditions at all times. The benefits are two-fold: it reduces fuel consumption and noise emission, two important factors for many customers. In the rental segment, its performance shines where reliability and cost-effective performance are key.

Its dual frequency capability provides the flexibility required by many of the large international rental companies who may be operating both 50 and 60Hz market places. By incorporating a proven and technologically adapted control system to manage dual frequency, this genset can provide power equally at 50Hz and 60Hz. Similarly, state-of-the-art elements have been added to the engine so that it can offer this dual functionality. Its “dual” quality may be what guarantees its full versatility. For domestic regions where it operates at 50Hz, like Spain, with a prevalence of coastline and, accordingly, seaports, the generator set must be adaptable to the demands of port customers (which require power to be supplied at 60Hz) and, often, to those of military customers as well.

Because of its ability to adapt to dual frequency, the set can be constantly on the move to meet the needs of the 50Hz and 60Hz market. Up to two 20ft units can be transported by trailer on land, although maritime transport is also possible. With this in mind, the genset was designed for easy stacking and transport. In this respect, the container uses reinforced ISO-BLOCKS for lifting by crane and lower skids for transport on pallets.

The HRTW 1300 genset also comes equipped with an interior lighting system, which guarantees easy access for cleaning and maintenance. It includes an emergency light, a 230VAC socket and an emergency stop button accessible for the outside. Its unique design also includes wide folding doors providing easy access from the interior. Two of these doors are located on the sides to guarantee full access to the alternator and radiator. Another folding door is located centrally, providing access to the engine. The container includes easy access to power connections, as well as on-site grounding points.

The dual frequency generator has a connection to an external fuel tank, guaranteeing a large level of autonomy. This connection is essential for continuous supply operations. Connection to any large external fuel tank, coupled with its automatic oil fill system, guarantees continuity of power supply without interruption. The generator is also equipped with a diesel pre-filter to deal with lower quality diesel, that is often associated with remote operations. A large control panel was designed so that any connection or repairs can be made easily and the oversize radiator ensures full load can be maintained at temperatures up to 50 degrees.

The engine alternator set is coupled using an SAE bell housing and flex plates. It is mounted on a EN10111.2008 certified DD11 quality laminated carbon steel chassis, equipped with corrosion resistant mounts that cushion and absorb vibrations or movements between the engine alternator set and the rack. All the joints are welded using robot-controlled MIG-MAG technology. The finish is zinc-coated, painted and varnished sheets with epoxy polyester power (salt-spray tested for over 1000h).

The set is mounted on a high mechanical strength 20’ HC ISO container with high-density volcanic rock wool insulated sides and roof. The materials are fire proof and hydrophilic, with zinc-coated sheets painted using corrosion resistant coating. The fasteners are made of stainless steel. These features are clearly the most suitable for adverse working conditions, in which extreme temperatures or impact of salt water from the sea can damage the equipment. It is this attention to the detail of each material and component that ensures a long product life.

Technical features

  1. Versatility, providing power at both 50Hz and 60Hz
  2. Power and Size, incorporated into a 20 ft container with 1039kw of power
  3. Durability, guaranteeing a long useful life with heavy-duty and high quality materials.
  4. High Fuel Efficiency, as the variable-speed fans reduce fuel consumption.
  5. Quiet, with minimal noise emission which improves working conditions.
  6. Easy access to the internal structure for maintenance and cleaning.
  7. Large level of autonomy, equipped with an external fuel tank guaranteeing 24-hour uninterrupted operation and diesel pre-filter.
  8. Resistance, thanks to the design of the container, with fire- and corrosion-resistant materials insulated with volcanic rock wool.
  9. Cost-effectiveness, as with all these features, the customer sees the HRTW 1300 as a cost-effective product.

Its ability to operate at either 50Hz or 60Hz makes this a multi-purpose genset suitable for any international market. Large international rental companies can rest assured that they are acquiring a functional genset applicable to any sector in any country, regardless of their frequency.
