High performance Gyproc acoustic partitions, walls and ceilings will be at the heart of the new, state-of-the-art, 6-screen Oscar Cinema, currently being constructed in Al Shaab Village, one of Sharjah’s largest shopping malls.
Featuring the latest 4DX and 7DX technology to augment the visual presentation with environmental effects, such as seat motion, wind and special lighting, effective acoustic isolation between adjacent theatres is essential to optimise the customer experience.
Technical experts from Gyproc Middle East were therefore approached to provide a fully integrated specification for the high separating walls, ceilings and wall linings, to meet the most demanding acoustic standards throughout the complex.
Central to the specification was Gypwall AUDIO, a very high performance twin frame separating wall system, developed specifically for use in multi-screen cinemas, which is designed to provide exceptional sound performance of up to 80RwdB. To complete the acoustic cocoon, special Gyproc Mass Barrier Ceilings are also being used, suspended directly from the soffits using Gyproc metal channels.
Concrete walls and metal frame elements are being lined with Gyplyner IWL, a high performance wall lining system that is installed independently of the main structure to improve acoustic performance and provide up to 180 minutes fire protection.
Valued in excess of AED 400,000, the fully tested and warranted Gyproc systems are being installed by Ajman-based AL Etefaq Décor Works, and will also provide a high level of impact resistance to prevent accidental damage as well as a fire safe environment for cinema goers in an area of the city previously lacking in movie theatres and general entertainment venues.
For film fans looking for an extra level of luxury, the new cinema, due to open later this year, will be one of the first to feature a special ‘Pearl Suite’ facility, enabling up to 40 film fans to enjoy their viewing in true ‘First Class’ style, complete with special reclining seats, blanket, pillow and even waiter-service.
